Communication is a requirement in digital marketing as it’s essential to get the message across clearly; engage the customers with precise and powerful messages. I can mention however that in my position at IPP Technologies I managed to improve my written communication, especially in developing marketing content. And still when it comes to presenting ideas for the first time during a meeting or a client presentation, I feel that I will benefit if I can work on my speaking abilities. A number of times, I even experience difficulty in expressing my opinions in the same way that I would post, which has resulted in me not contributing in some professional environments.
Keyton (2017) points out very rightly that especially for promoting team work and relations with the clients, one has to be fit in both forms of communication, written as well as oral. Based on this observation, I thought it would be useful to make some attempts to speak out more often than I used to do. First, I try to rehearse my presentations with my classmates, and I have begun actively seeking advice on how to say things. Besides, I have started having more discussions with my co-workers to help me gain confidence in my verbal interactions.
Reflection: This self-help project of mine proved to be useful because I have learned that communication is an art which only gets better with practice. As much as my writing skills have been up to the mark, I am now concentrating on improving my speaking and verbal skills which I know will be important for me in the future. I expect that with sufficient practice and constructive criticism, I shall progress in a way that I would be able to argue intelligently in groups or with the clients.
